Privacy Policy

Your moods, tasks and circle stay on your phone. The only thing that ever leaves it is one short line to the buddy you chose.

Who we are

Daybloom (“the app”) is developed by Dr Aran Castro. Contact: aran@draran.online.

What the app stores on your phone

Your first name, as you typed it.
Your buddy’s first name and a random topic code (for example nudge-85lixtexkrag).
Your daily mood choices, one per day.
The tasks you add to the Eisenhower Matrix, with their quadrant, due date and completion status.
The people you add to your circle: name, phone number (optional), circle quadrant, and when you last reached them from the app.
Your reminder time and nudge settings, and a list of when nudges were sent.
Your best scores and play counts for the Play games.
The badges you have earned and when.
Your garden: each flower grown, when, and what grew it (for example a task title or a game name).
Your focus-timer sessions (time, length, the flower grown and the linked task, if any) and any timer in progress.

If you add Daybloom widgets to your home screen, they show some of this information there (for example task titles, your streak, your garden or the names in your circle), where anyone holding your unlocked phone can see it. Widgets read the same on-device storage and send nothing anywhere. You can remove a widget at any time from your home screen.

This information is kept in the app’s private storage on your device. We do not run a server, and we cannot see it. Uninstalling the app or using Settings → Erase all data deletes it.

What leaves your phone

When your chosen number of low days in a row is reached, or when you tap Send a test nudge, the app sends one message over HTTPS to ntfy.sh, a public notification service, addressed to your buddy’s topic code. The message contains your first name and a request to call you. It never contains your moods, your tasks, your history, or the reason for the nudge.

When the app opens, it also asks ntfy.sh whether your buddy has confirmed joining. That request contains only the topic code.

ntfy.sh is operated independently and keeps messages for a short period so they can be delivered. Its handling of messages is governed by its own terms, published at ntfy.sh.

What we do not do

No user accounts, sign-in, or phone number collection.
No advertising, analytics, or tracking software.
No sale or sharing of data with anyone.
No reading of your address book in the background, and no access to your location, camera, or microphone.
No upload of your circle’s names or numbers anywhere.

Permissions

Notifications: used only for your daily check-in reminder and the focus-timer alarm, both scheduled on your phone. You can turn it off in the app or in your phone settings.

Contacts: used only when you tap Choose from contacts. The app reads the name and phone number of the one contact you pick and saves them on your phone. It never reads, copies or uploads the rest of your address book.

Calls and messages: Call, SMS and WhatsApp buttons open your phone’s own dialler, messaging app or WhatsApp with the number filled in. The app does not place calls or send messages itself.

For the buddy

If you accepted an invite, the join page sends one message, “joined”, to ntfy.sh so your friend’s app can show that you are connected. We receive nothing about you.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.

Health notice

Daybloom is not a medical device, diagnostic tool, or emergency service. If you are in distress, call Tele-MANAS on 14416 (India, free, 24 hours) or emergency services on 112.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
